STEP 2: Record 4 Video Clips

CLIP #1 EXAMPLE

CLIP #1: INTRO & PREP (:30 TO :45 SECONDS)

Say your name, store name, and city. Next, show your taped boot that has been Cleaned, Sanded and Taped

  • Tape off in the proper area.
  • Don’t apply past the steel toe.
  • Use masking or painters tape
  • Surface prep sanding.
  • You can use a Dremel for faster surface prep.
  • Deglazing (if needed) for oily leather with Comet, Dawn, or a leather Deglazing solution like Fiebing’s Deglazer. You can even put them in Floor-Dry.
  • Equalize Cartridge & Mixing Tip
    • Equalize the Cartridge before putting the mixing tip on.
    • Dispense about 1″ of material or about 1 ounce.
    • Equalize the mixing tip, dispensing about the same amount.

VIDEO CLIP #2: EQUALIZE & MARK 1/2 WAY (:30 TO :45 SECONDS)

MARK YOUR TUFF GUN OR THE CARTRIDGE

Mark you Tuff Gun piston 1/2, this will help you gauge how much Tuff Toe material you have applied. Check on it often during application and make sure you don’t apply too thin or too thick.

VIDEO #2 EXAMPLE

DON'T RUSH IT

Hang Tight 20 Seconds

LET'R SIT

Let the Tuff Toe material sit in the mixing tip for about 20 sec. This helps the material thicken as the 2 parts begin to react together, giving you better control of the Tuff Toe material and preventing it from “Taking Off” on you.
As you apply the Tuff Toe, continue to apply slowly so that the material is able to come out thicker, helping you get a better Tuff Toe that performs and looks better.

CLIP #3 EXAMPLE

VIDEO CLIP #3: APPLICATION (2-3 1/2 minutes)

Show the boot being held correctly with off-hand

  • Start in a corner
  • Apply from Sole to Tape
  • Proper dispensing speed.
    • 2 to 3 1/2 min per toe
    • Too fast and the material will come out runny and thin.
  • Keep a Wet Edge.
    • Keep the tip of the mixing nozzle in the material as you apply.
  • No “whipping” back and forth.
    • If you are guilty of this then you are applying too fast and you will see bubbles as well as a thinner Tuff Toe

VIDEO PART #4: FINISHING THE APPLICATION (:30 TO :45 SECONDS)

  • Show you finishing up your application, removing the tape, and rotating the boot.
  • Remove the tape,
  • Smooth out heavy areas with smoothing stick, clean up edges
  • Rotate to help self-leveling while pointing the boot nose down and rotating back and forth.
